Monday to Sunday 8am to 4pm

Closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

New Year's Eve: 8am to 12 noon.

Entrance gates close 15 minutes before closing time

Closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Vans, trailers and permits

  • Vans: Small vans need a permit (Thurrock council tax payers, up to 6 visits a year; hire vans 2 visits). No Ford Transit, Luton, tipper, flatbed, minibus or vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
  • Trailers: Single-axle trailers under 1.8m need a permit; vehicles with trailers can only enter on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Free for Thurrock residents; bring proof of address such as a council tax or utility bill.
  • Soil, rubble, hardcore and plasterboard: no more than 3 wheelbarrow loads in total.
  • Asbestos, fire extinguishers and hazardous chemicals are not accepted.
  • Tyres: no more than 5 a year; cooking or engine oil: no more than 10 litres a year.
