Vans, trailers and permits
- Vans must be registered like any other vehicle. From 2 January 2027 van owners must book an appointment (six visits a year), and Luton, box and flat-bed vans and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will not be allowed. Hire vans need temporary access arranged at least 24 hours ahead.
- Vehicles with trailers are registered in the same way as other vehicles; paper permits are no longer used.
Before you visit any Nottinghamshire tip
- Nottinghamshire residents only: register your vehicle free online (up to two vehicles) before visiting; registration is instant.
- Residents of other areas, including Nottingham City, cannot register and must use the recycling centres in their own area.
- DIY waste: up to two 50-litre bags or one item up to 2000mm x 750mm x 700mm per visit, and no more than four visits per household in any four weeks.
- Asbestos and car tyres are not accepted.
- 'Man with a van' services cannot use the recycling centres.
