Northumberland County Council runs 12 household waste recycling centres. None of them needs booking.
No booking needed
Cars with ordinary household waste need no permit. Large vehicles, and anyone bringing DIY waste, must book a free permit at least 24 hours ahead.

Vans, trailers and permits
- Vans and single-cab pickups up to 3.5 tonnes need a free large vehicle permit, booked at least 24 hours ahead (12 a year). Box vans, flatbeds and tippers are not allowed.
- Trailers up to 5ft need no permit; 5ft to 9ft 10in need a large vehicle permit; longer trailers are not allowed.
Before you visit any Northumberland tip
- For Northumberland residents only; ID is checked.
- No pedestrian access at any site.
- DIY waste needs a DIY permit, each for up to 100 litres; 4 permits per household in any 4 weeks.
- Fridges and freezers may not be accepted at the time of your visit because of storage capacity issues.
- Do not bring waste in your wheelie bin; you will be refused entry.
