Vans, trailers and permits

  • Vans: Vans, pick-ups and crew cabs under 3.5 tonnes (including hired or borrowed ones) need a free e-permit, which allows 6 visits in 12 months. Nothing over 3.5 tonnes.
  • Trailers: Cars towing trailers under 1.8m need an e-permit; trailers over 1.8m are not allowed.

Before you visit any North Northamptonshire tip

  • Free DIY waste trips are limited by vehicle: 8 per 60 days in a small car, 4 per 60 days in a large car, estate, MPV or 4x4; 6 per year with an e-permit.
  • Asbestos and tyres are not accepted.
  • Fridges and freezers temporarily limited to one domestic unit per visit; ID checked for a North Northamptonshire address.
  • No pedestrian access; contact customer services at least 2 working days ahead if you have no transport.
  • Don't queue before the 10am opening; sites may close temporarily to clear queues.
