Vans, trailers and permits

  • Vans: Vans and pick-ups need a permit (Bristol residents, own household waste, 12 visits in 12 months).
  • Trailers: Towing trailers over 1.52 metres (5 feet) need a permit.

Before you visit any Bristol tip

  • Bristol residents only: bring photo ID and proof of address (council tax or utility bill).
  • Free DIY allowance per visit (up to 4 visits in 28 days): up to 100 litres of soil and rubble, or 1 sheet of asbestos or plasterboard, or 1 item of sanitary ware.
  • Pay online for chargeable DIY waste when you book; extra can be paid by card on site.
  • Tyres are free (maximum of 4).
