Vans, trailers and permits

  • Vans: Vans, pick-ups, campervans, minibuses and 4x4s without rear side windows need a free e-permit (12 visits in 12 months) and can only visit at restricted times (generally 10am to 2pm, not Sundays or bank holidays). No long-wheelbase or twin-axle vans, nothing over 3.5 tonnes or 2.05m high.
  • Trailers: Cars towing a small trailer between 6ft and 9ft 6in (2.10m) need a permit; no trailer over 2.10m, and vans or pick-ups cannot tow.
